In the SAME labs, ready for pantograph engraving, the glass is coated with melted wax. The craftsman then ‘scratches’ the wax with the pantograph styluses to sketch the decorative motif.

The subsequent acid bath serves to etch all the ‘scratches’ into the surface, then every piece is washed in hot water to completely dissolve the wax.

We also etch using the grinding technique: processed with special stones, in many different sizes, that prepare the glass for the colouring process.

So the item is now ready for decoration: the artist begins his work of ‘embroidering’ in gold or colours.
